We reach people through the ministry of music, a vital and essential part in the Lord's harvest here in Thailand. The Word of God states in Colossians 3:16,

This command from God must be clearly obeyed and followed since music is considered the "language of the soul", which draws people of all races and cultures together.

Through our music ministries, we desire for everyone to have a heart of worship. We desire for everyone to have an intimate relationship with God by offering their hearts and lives in worship to Him.

The ministries of music, led by James de los Santos, include:

  • Worship seminars- led by James
  • Worship/praise teams & bands- led by James, Hannah, & DLCC co-workers and members
  • Instruction of music theory- taught by James
  • Guitar lessons- taught by Nerissa, Hannah & some DLCC members
  • Drum lessons- taught by Hannah
  • Bass guitar instruction- taught by some DLCC young adults
  • Keyboard & piano instruction- soon to by taught by James & Esther
  • Voice lessons and church choir- led by Esther & James
  • Worship team involvement in local christian events

Our worship teams allow the church members of all ages to get involved. The teams include:

  • Youth & young adults teams
  • Children's Home teams
  • Elderly teams
  • Mixed teams

How do we then reach both the saved and the lost through music? This is mainly done by helping them to recognize that music is God's great gift to mankind, and it meets the spiritual needs of both the young and old alike, so that they can have something to "identify" with. Also, because music is one of the main interests for Thai teens and young people, we invite and involve young people to get involved in the church’s praise bands. This ministry has been effective in attracting young people to get to know the Lord more and encourages them to be brave and confident when they use their talents in outreach events throughout the year.

A church choir and worship teams have been established to enhance church services and evangelistic occasions such as Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and revivals. It encourages the members to use their talents for the Lord. Aside from this, we also teach basic music theory, song leading, and instrumental playing, so that they can become effective church musicians. All these instructions are given for free for everyone interested, christians and non-christians.

English, considered the universal language, is becoming more and more popular among the Thais of all ages. English is taught from preschool to university years throughout the entire country, not excluding village schools. It also has become a trend for Thais to get special lessons to improve their speaking, reading, writing and grammar skills. Thais spend hours, money and effort to learn and improvise in order to become affluent with the most “popular” language. We are able to attract the Thais in public just by speaking because they are drawn to English-speaking people.

Because of these reasons, SALT uses English as one of the main evangelism tools in reaching out to the lost and saved alike. The English ministries, led by Nerissa and James, have been used for several years and have produced positive results.

The English ministries include:

  • Instruction in speaking & conversation
  • Instruction in grammar & vocabulary
  • Instruction in reading & writing
  • English camps
  • Special tutoring for elementary, high school and college students

All these instructions are offered for free and is taught at church (for interested passersby’s, friends, and members alike) and at the Children’s Home. Anything free is difficult to find and always attractive. Seeing that English instruction is offered for free makes them wonder. Through this we’re able to share God’s love and establish personal friendships that allow us to share Christ with them.

May all the glory be to God for all the different and various forms of opportunities He's given us to reach out to the Thai people.
