Nowadays, Thailand is rapidly becoming more modern and materialistic.
The advancing technology and attractive temptations of all the “lights,
noises, and colors” of this generation are pulling the Thai
young people rapidly away from what’s truly fulfilling. Asides
from the stronghold of the Buddhist beliefs and traditions, the
various forms of pleasures in Thailand have made it even more difficult
and challenging to reach out to the Thai teens and young adults.
Not only are they lost in their religious beliefs and faith, they
are also lost and becoming enslaved by today’s “lures”.
Because of these reasons, the Dawn of Life Christian
Church’s
youth and young adults ministries, led by Hannah de los Santos,
are making efforts in sharing the coolest and most fulfilling thing
in life, that is Jesus Christ.
With DLCC being in the city of Chiangmai (population
of over 1 million people), our main target groups are with the
ethnic and tribal Thais in the city itself. Although most of our
time is focused in the city, the youth in the villages and on the
mountains are not overlooked.
The main Youth & Young Adults Ministries include:
- Regular
fellowship
- weekly cell groups
- visitation
teams (person to person evangelism)
- Outreach programs
- camps, retreats,
seminars
- music and worship bands
- fellowship activities with other
churches
Outreach programs include:
- Bible tract distribution (at public places such as outdoor
shopping malls & parks and/or during Thai festivals)
- Evangelistic
Outreach events or activities indoors (in church) & outdoors
(such as schools, in villages, and more)
- Sports events
- Fund Raising activities
All this is done on a consistent basis to continually
attract the Thai youth and young adults not only to our personal
friendships, which leads to Christ, but to attract them to the
church. Our goal is also to have God train and mold them into becoming
effective future leaders of the church.
Our message to the lost:THAT
GOD IS THE “REAL THING” AND
IS EVERYTHING. Thai young people are searching for happiness and
are searching for their meanings in life. Sadly, they’re
looking in the wrong places or they simply don’t know
where to look. Numerous are also NOT looking. That is our duty,
to show them and to give them the greatest message and love of
all.
Our message for the saved: “TO
LIVE IS CHRIST. TO DIE IS GAIN” Through these ministries, the youth and young
adults are taught to fear and respect God and to live purpose-driven
lives. They are being trained to serve the Lord with all their
talents and to give their all for those who are in need of God’s
awesome love and treasures.
Our ministries also exist to show them that we
can live our youthful lives with great freedom. Freedom that is
glorifying to God and at the same time freedom that is fun, exciting
and full of fire.
Simply put, our goals and desires are for the
youth and young adults of Thailand are to have a ZEAL FOR CHRIST!
We don’t
just to make an impression, we desire to impact lives.
PRAYER NEEDS:
- CAMPUS MINISTRY: Lord willing, Hannah and
the youth committee will start a campus ministry at Chiangmai
University this year, 2005. We hope to begin by first forming
a cell group through one of our youth committee members who is
a student at CMU.
- All the different ministries and it’s growth.
- The new
Christians and the “older” Christians-
for a faithful walk with God
